that CAKE...

Some people seem to think that you either have a gift for Baking Cakes or you don’t.Confidence is the key and nothing can shake one’s confidence like having a failure with a cake into which so much care has gone.  The first thing we need to do is to try to understand what is actually happening when a cake is being baked, because any interference with this process could end in the failure we all want to avoid.

Baking Cakes, whether it is just a simple, plain cake or an elegant, highly decorated one for a special occasion, there is nothing more tantalizing or satisfying to the taste then a beautiful, well-made cake.  In the beginning ofCake Baking, it is a good idea to follow the recipe closely so as not to make mistakes.

It may be interesting to know that cakes do not always have to be full of empty calories and unhealthy ingredients.  They can be made using honey or other sweeteners instead of sugar.  Usually, cake flour is used because it is ground to a very fine consistency.  The traditional white cake flour is made from very finely ground de-germinated wheat, but can be replaced with substitutes.  Whole wheat flour and rice flour are the most commonly used.  Flour can be made from any organic substance that can be dried and ground to a fine consistency.  Butter can also be used instead of other shortenings and there are even cook books that explain how to bake without shortening and sugar.

When Baking, most cakes bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes.  There are exceptions, but this is the general rule.  Before putting the batter in the pan, it is important to grease the pan very well on the bottom and sides and then flour it.  This makes it easy to take the cake out of the pan.
When your cake has finished baking, put it on a rack for cooling.  Always allow the cake to cool sufficiently before icing, and make sure you have plenty of frosting.  By skimping on the frosting, when applying, there would be a tendency to come too close to the cake and bring up crumbs.  You can decorate it if you want or serve it plain or with ice cream.  Now that your cake is finished, sit down and enjoy or share it with your loved ones.  Everyone loves a good cake, and Baking Cakes  = Delightful Baking.

Not only does it suffice our hunger..,,for me it's more, cakes are also for lonely times, can't even understand why, but sweet things tends to have been made for those times. You can't help but thank the gods for this sinfully good thing..

TOP 103 "The Art of Pitching"

The Communication students dominated the seminar
Pitching a script is an art form, and although it can be stressful, it's something every writer has to perfect before approaching executives or agents. So pitching is not only a job, it’s a work of art, a performance!
“Sa pitching, necessity ang magpabaga ug nawng”, says award- winning Filipino film maker Remton Siega Zuasola, yesterday afternoon, on a seminar in film project pitching held at EMMA Center.
Pitching for Future Film makers"
Ganahan ko nga managhan ta, modako ang number sa film makers", said Zuasola. The speaker opened the eyes of the students on how to convince a producer to help make a film based on their own story or known as Pitching.
Pitching a story is not that easy, the speaker said, that as a director, it's not only his job to make a film, he performs multiple tasks. Zuasola had been a costume designer, a writer, an editor, and a salesman himself. “Nakasuway ko nga akoy director, writer at the same time salesman. Kasuway sad kog panangtang ug kurtina sa among balay para I costume sa amo actresses ug actors”.Zuasola said He revealed that confidence is one of the best assets that made him top on art. In order for the producer to accept your story it needs to be mastered, so it would come out naturally. “Ang kahadlok moy nakahimo nako sa pagpangandam” The presentation must be animated, enthusiastic and concise. In pitching, the audience usually asks for the importance of your story, the difference of your story from other movies. The best requirement for the speaker is the viewers want to watch your movie again and again.
During the conversation of pitching, never forget to keep an eye on the prize, and  “Never be late, …..especially when you are pitching in major company” said Zuasola
At the end of the seminar, the speaker let the student watch two samples of his film works entitled, "To Siomai Love" and "Ang Katapusang Bagting".

The events are divided to different activities, either inside or outside the grounds. The cheer dance competition which was the FIELD DEMONSTRATION,  is  highly anticipated and definitely the most well planned activity,  has again set our minds up with  different questions . Can  the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) again dominate, and make it their eleventh championship in the said  competition?.
" Actually we are soo tense, of course ganahan jud ta modaug.( actually we are soo tense, well of course we want to win.)”Dr.Ma.Lilibeth Abaquita, the supervising coach of the cheer dance for CAS said. The CAS  already started their formal rehearsal last Monday and, are still recruiting male students to perform, “we tend to come up with all boys” Dr.Abaquita said ,”so far we have a lot of beginners”. she added. They tend to come up with at least 50-60 dancers, and many of them are from first year.  “They are excused, but there are some who won’t come, basin asa na sila , we even texted some teachers to check on whether they are really thereDr.Abaquita said . Their practices are held in the Samuel McClintock Hall or in the  ILS Grounds.
,    On the other hand, the College Teaching Education (CTE) . Wala may bag-o na figure ,nay bag-o na music”, Mr.Maruel C.Malazarte, the CTE’s choreographer said, on , Are their new steps to enhance the CTE ‘S performance?. The college also started their formal practice last Monday, and with the permission, they will have it  9:00am-9:00pm, for the next practices. The CTE, will have a Tribal-Ethnic theme. “Simple ang steps”,a third yr. and fourth yr. student said, as we asked on how their dance differ from last years. ”Lahi ang choreographer”, they said  on what’s new on CTE. Their practices are held in the Social Hall. While the College of Nursing (CN), just started their practice last Monday afternoon, in the Tandang Sora Hall.”Mas thorough and complicated sauna” a second yr. nursing student said. Unlike the other colleges, the CN held their practices every after class so it won’t interfere with their studies. The college has almost 30 to 50 dancers, “walay third yr.kay busy man sila”, the second yr. student added. The competition will kick start from August 15-18,2011.
